Eat Right

Eating healthy food does not necessarily mean eating bland, boring food. There are plenty of fast and easy recipes that use nutritious, whole foods that the entire family will enjoy. Gradually get out of your bad food habits by starting with one or two healthy meals per week. You will find that a balanced, reasonably portioned meal will leave you feeling satisfied and energetic.

Stay Active

Including at least thirty minutes of activity in each day will help you maintain your current weight; stepping it up to 45 minutes, or increasing the intensity level will help you lose weight. A combination of cardiovascular training (walking, jogging, swimming, etc.) and resistance training (weight lifting, yoga, etc.) will tone your muscles and keep your heart healthy.

Set Goals

Start with one longer-term realistic weight loss goal such as losing ten pounds in ten weeks. Healthy weight loss should happen at a rate of one or two pounds per week, so use that as a starting point. Based on your long-term goal, set mini goals for each week and each day. The key to success is setting realistic goals that will challenge you without overwhelming you.
